Alejandra Pombo Su’s artistic practice moves between the visual, audiovisual and performing arts. Based on dreamlike visions and imaginings, her works represent emotions and imagined figurations as much as concrete people, animals and places, exploring the relationship between the feminine, the animal and the post-human, the natural and the sensory, the unforeseen, the ineffable and the imagined.

In an ongoing series of performances, Alejandra Pombo Su explores animal presence through modulations, vibrations and intensities of the voice, as a body that detaches itself from its skin and connects to a non-corporeal, open and undefined place. Pombo’s work deconstructs established relations between the voice and a person, expressing and being expressed, auto-fiction and becoming post-human or alien, creating a negative dynamics undermining the commensurability between being and appearance in favor of unsettling not seldom visceral experiences impossible to escape.

Alejandra Pombo Su

Alejandra Pombo Su is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Her practice is essentially performative resulting in unconventional approaches to stable media, investigating material and media in respect of how rather than what, which often result in work that’s paradoxical to itself, full of contradictions that appear to be simultaneously deliberate and accidental, expressive and formal, hasty and repetitive. Alejandra Pombo Su’s practice is highly unique and has been presented by venues such as Museo Reina Sophia, La Casa Encendida, CA2M and Museo de Pontevedra.
