A stone, a grape fruit, a bus ticket, some smoke, a sound. What happens if sound is treated as something existing, in principle, not different to any other object? The Seoul based duo HOSOO approaches sounds as entities, objects or bodies, postponing the temptation to organise them into established relations, arranging them according to human preferences. This approach offers the listener the liberty to form relations on his, her, or their own, instead of being promoted a certain experience. HOSOO’s sound extensions establish gradual and temporal terrains, foreign spaces and mystical place holders, through which sound becomes somatic, acting on the listener beyond analysis, reflection or reason. The two instrumentalists reveal the nature of sound, the beauty of its timelessness.
