Music’s time is always now, in the act of listening. Yet sounds, melodies, and harmonies simultaneously resonate with the past, with the ancient, while also anticipating traces still to come. Through music, we find ourselves here and now, long ago, and already in the future. Noh Eunsil delicately balances the tradition of pansori with contemporary sonic environments, creating bridges between dreams arising from the past and memories arriving from the day after tomorrow. Her sound performances—unfolding as a fluid mixture of exhibition, ceremony, concert, ritual, and intimate gathering—open doors to the listener’s own eternities, letting fantasies grow like a forest of fragile plants.
For the Ob/scene festival, Eunsil invites us into her most intimate format: one that is close, immediate, and carried by sounds that traverse the continents of memory and hope.
Noh Eunsil is a performer, sound artist, and vocalist who has been shaping her own artistic language through the medium of voice. After studying pansori in Korea and later attending the art academy in Prague, she began presenting performances that merge the theatricality of pansori with objects. More recently, she has been experimenting with audiovisual works that use the voice as raw material to transcend expressive limits, while developing sound performances and improvised collaborations grounded in her concept of voice art. She looks forward to the day when she can fully share the raw energy and beauty of the voice with her audience, continually expanding the world of vocal expression.
